Erik Carstensen

 Erik was born in 1977 in the lower mainland. He started training in karate in 1989 under the tutelage of Sensei Robbert Intveld of the Academy of Martial Arts to learn discipline, self control and for the physical activity.

He moved to the Nanaimo in 2002 and joined the Shima Karate School to continue his training. Erik achieved his Shodan in 2006 and continues his training in Goju Ryu.

• Ju-jitsu seminars with Sensei Shane Brown

• 2002 NMAI Provincial Championships, Bronze Kata, Bronze Kumite

• 2003 Grand Championships, Gold Kata, Silver Kumite

• 2004 Grand Championships, Gold Kata, Gold Kumite

• 2004 Gracie Federation Tournament, Silver Grappling

• 2004 apprentice electrician under Bohemia Electric

• 2006 now working for Canem Systems as a 3rd year apprentice in commercial electric instalations

• 2008 Started training in Wing Chung with Sifu Bob Stevenson.
