O'Sensei Kim - "His Life"
On October 5th 2002, eight Karate dojo's from the West Coast of Canada joined together creating the National Martial Arts Institute.

The dojo's that comprise the initial group are as follows:
  • Shima Martial Arts School, Parksville
  • Academy of Martial Arts, Delta
  • Shima Martial Arts School, Nanaimo
  • Kaizen Academy of Martial Arts, Maple Ridge
  • Shima Martial Arts School, Lantzville
  • Yama Neko Martial Arts, Victoria
  • Shima Martial Arts Busen, Victoria
  • Shaolin-Tzu Martial Arts Academy, Victoria
The organization was formed after O'Sensei Richard Kim passed on and the Zen Bei Butoku-kai splintered into different factions.

NMIA is dedicated to following and honoring Sensei Kim's teachings under the watchful eye of Sensei Kim's wife May Kim through the "Way of Mankind"

NMAI will consider membership requests from other dojo's that were a part of Sensei Kim's Butoku-kai organization.
