Rory Knapp-Fisher was born in Vancouver, BC in 1984. His martial arts education began at the age of 6 when his mother enrolled him in Tae Kwon Do classes. Unfortunately he moved shortly thereafter. It was not until he was 17 that Rory, at the time a rather thin boy with fragile health and poor flexibility, remembered how much he enjoyed the martial arts and ended up joining Shima Karate School under Sensei Kurt Nordli. This was the same year the Rory graduated from NDSS. Gradually Rory progressed in his training and earned his Shodan in the summer of 2006. At this point Rory took a hiatus from formal training to take a mental break and get a better idea of what karate meant to him. During this time he focused more on his Anthropology degree. Also Rory began working as a sushi chef which was a dramatic improvement from the dishwashing jobs he was used to. In the summer of 2007 after much introspection Rory returned to the Shima Karate School to continue his training towards Nidan. Rory Knapp-Fisher has also recently graduated from
Malaspina University-College with a BA majoring in Anthropology and
Liberal Studies. Despite just finishing his post-secondary education
he has decided to pursue a life-long education in Traditional
Chinese Medicine. |
