Liam Surry

My name is Liam Surry. I was born on June 10th, 2001 and have lived in Nanaimo for all my life. I am currently 16 years old and I will be going into grade 11 at Dover Bay Secondary in the fall of 2017.

I have done karate for about 11-12 years, since the Shima location opened by Mac's in 2005. I only joined karate by chance as I won the door prize at the open house in 2005 which was a month of free karate, a white belt, and a Gi.

I have competed in a number of karate tournaments which include regional, provincial, and national level competition. In 2014, I went to winter games in Mission, BC, and I have been to Nationals in the years of 2015, 2016, and 2017.

After I graduate, I plan to go into the sciences, either studying Genetic-Engineering,or biomechanics. I will be heading Vancouver or calgary to complete these studies.

I don't know how I would cope without karate since it has become a huge part of my life. From keeping in shape to having fun times, I have had a great experience with the martial arts.
