Owen Hopewell

Owen Hopewell was born August 30th 2006 in Nanaimo, British Colombia, Canada. Owen is going into grade 10 in the French immersion program at Nanaimo District Secondary School. Owen went to Mountain View Elementary School from Kindergarten-Grade 5, after grade 5 Owen went into the late French immersion program at Ecole Quarterway in grade 6.
Owen has been a karate athlete since the age of four. He has competed competitively with karate since grade 4. Some of his accomplishments include: placing 5th in kumite at the 7th Annual Gojukai Karate Do World Championships in 2015; securing a spot and competing in B.C. Winter Games in Fort St John 2020 where he and his team received a Gold medal for their team kata; securing a spot on the B.C National Team in 2020.
Owen has been a competitive dancer at Vibe Dance since 2013. He and his crew recently placed 7th in the world at an international dance competition and placed 1st in Canada in the same competition. Owen has recently started training at Force Boxing Nanaimo in preparation for fight season starting in September 2021. Owen has played basketball at a high level for 3 years and is trying out for the Nanaimo Club Team hoping to be competing against teams from all over B.C.
