Jamie Kruger - Shodan-ho 2019

I was born on July 4th, 2001, in Nanaimo, BC. I went to Cilaire Elementary from kindergarten to grade 7, and then Nanaimo Christian School from grades 8 to 12. I am currently 18 years old, and just graduated this year.

I began karate at Shima Karate School at age 10, in November 2011, and have loved it ever since. While enjoying other sports during my elementary and high school years, such as track and field events, cross country, gymnastics, and volleyball (indoor and beach), karate has always been the main focus and constant in my life. I have also loved being a part of my school’s high school concert band and jazz band, and we have had the opportunity to perform in many places, one being Disneyland.

I have always been a pretty active person, and have loved training in Goju Ryu. Karate has impacted me in many ways, and has shaped me to be the person I am today. It has taught me so much about respect, work ethic, responsibility, resilience, the importance of goal setting, and many other important traits.
