Jordan Sunnas
Shodan-ho 2012

Hi, my name is Jordan Sunnus, I was born and raised in Nanaimo. I have always been a very active person. I really enjoy the outdoors; a few of my hobbies are: playing paint ball with friends, camping, boating, fishing, snow boarding and of course karate.

I started karate when I was in about grade three, karate has always been my main sport. However; I have in the past also played T-ball, ball hockey, and soccer. I am a member of the Nanaimo Fish and Game club and enjoy doing target shooting with guns and bow and arrows. I also enjoy fishing, the biggest fish I ever caught was a 35lb spring on my 13th birthday.

I was a member of the Boys and Girls club for many years, when I turned 12 was able to be a youth leader helping out at the younger kids club. Over the past couple of years I have been working in our dojo helping Sempeis teach the younger students Karate.

I have been very fortunate to have been able to travel quite a lot. While in the Boys and Girls club I was selected to participate in the Tim Horton's Camp in Kananaskis, Albert and also Camp Educo up north in 100 Mile house, an adventure camp.

Once becoming involved with Karate tournaments I have been very fortunate to travel around the Island to complete and do training. In addition I have qualified several years for the BC Provincials in Vancouver and also for the BC Winter Games up in Terrace BC.

I could not imagine what my life would be like with out karate. It has become a part of me, it's like family. All of the different experiences I have had with karate I would not trade them for anything.
